"Thou hast lit a tempestuous fire in me, my lady-love. Ever and anon my heart burns with such vigor that neither brook nor stream may quench my passions. Pray, do not douse me on the ocean of thy indifference! Say that you love me, I beg you!" - from
Lyari and Cester, by Adalan Odesterai (attrib.)
In more peaceful times, Adalan Odesterai was the lead performer of the renowned Dawning Lane Players, a troupe of actors based in the western half of Silvermoon City. Famed for their performances of classical Thalassian theatre. A member of the group from a relatively young age, Adalan quickly took a place at the forfront of the stage, and his natural grace and charm on and off stage meant that he quickly found himself in a number of leading roles.
Adalan strove to maintain a lifestyle of excitement and adventure to match those he portrayed on-stage. Rumours began to surface about his tumultuous lifestyle, such as an involvement with a group of smugglers at Sunsail Anchorage, the theft of one of the crown jewels of King Anasterian, and the seduction and deflowering of the daughter of Lord Seregae Fein. Adalan took care to never deny any of these rumours, finding that with each one his fame - and infamy - grew, and with it came successes both on and off-stage.
He was beginning to become known as a writer of plays as well as an actor shortly before the invasion of the Scourge in Quel'Thalas. When Prince Arthas's army arrived at the gates of Silvermoon the majority of the Players are believed to have been inside the city - but somehow Adalan was not, and escaped the massacre.
Though the Players and their playhouse are no more, Adalan continues on, and has taken to the recent political upheavals of his people with typical grace. Many works of Thalassian theatre have survived, and Adalan is keen bringing them to his new, wider audience by translating them into Orcish. A "lover of wine, women and song", he bears no real connection to the plight of the Blood Elves, of the Horde or Alliance, but the world is a big place, and there are many adventures to be had along the road he takes.
